Updating and uninstalling
What is true on every platform, and where each one's steps live.
Stay current#
Run a current build before troubleshooting anything else. A stale version is behind a lot of "it stopped working": recordings ending early, translations not refreshing, a feature that appears to be missing.
How you update depends on the platform:
| Platform | How it updates |
|---|---|
| Desktop | Install the current build over the top |
| Mobile | Through the App Store or Google Play |
| Chrome extension | Chrome updates it; you can force it from chrome://extensions |
| Web app | Always current: reload the page |
Saved work follows the account#
Recordings, notes, chats, translated files, vocabulary, plan, and account preferences belong to your account. Updating or reinstalling does not delete them. Device-level choices—microphone, speaker, permissions, shortcuts, and some appearance settings—may need setting again on a new installation.
Uninstalling#
Each platform's steps are on its own page. Two things are true everywhere:
Heads up
Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Cancel first at app.jotme.io/account. See Billing and payments.
Uninstalling does not delete your account or its data either. If that is what you want, delete the account explicitly. See Account settings. Deletion is permanent.
Leaving for now#
Removing the app and keeping the account is fine: the free plan costs nothing, and everything you recorded stays where you left it. If you are going because something did not work, Feedback is read.
