Install and set up

Install the JotMe desktop app on Mac or Windows, grant microphone and system audio access, and set your languages before the first meeting.

Everything needed to get the desktop app running. Feature setup is covered in the linked tutorials below. If you have not picked a platform yet, start with Start here.

Install the desktop app#

Download the installer

Go to jotme.io and choose your build. Apple silicon (M-series) or Intel on macOS, or the Windows installer.

Use the account you created, or create one from the welcome screen. The same account works across desktop, web, mobile, and the Chrome extension, and shares one balance of minutes and credits.

Continue setup#

Keeping it updated#

An old build is behind a surprising number of problems: recordings stopping, translations not refreshing, a feature that "isn't there". The version is in the app's settings; compare it with the current release on jotme.io and install the new build over the top. Nothing account-backed is lost: recordings, notes, chats, and translated files remain in your account. You may need to recheck device-level audio, permission, and shortcut settings after reinstalling.

Version 1.0.0Latest

Installation problems#

Windows blocks the installer. SmartScreen flags new downloads: choose Keep, then More info, then Run anyway. Download only from jotme.io.

The app will not start after installing. Check you took the right macOS build. Apple silicon (M-series) or Intel.

Uninstalling#

Quit JotMe, then move it to the Bin on macOS, or uninstall from Settings → Apps → Installed apps on Windows.

Heads up

Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription and does not delete your account. See Billing and payments. Your recordings and chats stay in your account, so reinstalling picks up where you left off.
