Translation

Translate text, documents, images, audio, and video without losing meaning, layout, or context.

The Translate workspace handles everything that is not a live session. It opens on four modes:

ModeForMetered in
TextType or pasteChat translation tokens
FilesDocs and slidesAI credits
ImagePhotos and scansAI credits
Video / AudioSpeech and captionsTranslation minutes

Each mode has From and To language pickers, with auto-detect on the source side.

Translate without opening JotMe#

Two desktop-only shortcuts save a trip to the app, and neither exists in a browser or on mobile.

Files in Finder. Select one or more files in Finder and press Command + Option. JotMe comes to the front with the file loaded and ready to translate, so you never open a file picker.

Text in any application. Select text anywhere and press the same Command + Option: JotMe translates it and replaces the selection in place, then tells you it was inserted. On Windows, press Ctrl + C twice within 650 milliseconds.

Note

On macOS this needs Accessibility permission, because JotMe has to read the current selection. It asks the first time and cannot work until it is granted. The target language can be changed from the notification itself.

Dropping a file on the JotMe icon in the Dock does the same.

Translation history#

TranslateTranslation history

Everything you translate is kept under Translation history. This is the list of your recently translated text, documents, images, audio, and video, where you can open a result, download it again, share it, or delete it.

Each item in this list is a translated file or saved text translation. Deleting one removes the result and its stored original permanently. Copies already sent to chats are not removed.

Sharing what you translated#

Documents, images, translated audio, and dubbed video can be shared by link, by email, or into a chat. Saved text translations cannot be shared.

Choose view, comment, or edit when you share. What each level allows, where recipients open it, how a chat share applies to the people in the room at that moment, and how to revoke a link are all on Shared translated files.
