Desktop app settings

Find every desktop-only preference and open the detailed guide for the feature it controls.

Open your profile menu in the desktop app, then choose Settings. The Settings window has General, Account, and Custom vocabulary. The installed version and update status appear at the bottom of its sidebar.

General#

Appearance#

  • App zoom resizes the entire desktop app, including chat, translation, notes, settings, and live-session controls.

AI meeting notes#

Choose whether a completed meeting or event keeps its transcript and generates AI meeting notes, keeps the transcript only, or stores neither. When AI meeting notes are enabled, you can also choose their output language.

Notifications and chat#

  • Turn desktop notifications for meetings and chats on or off.
  • Show or hide typing indicators.
  • Set your chat presence to Active or Away.

See Calendar for meeting and event reminders, and Multilingual chat for conversations and chat behavior.

Startup#

Open JotMe automatically launches the desktop app when you sign in to your computer.

Shortcuts#

Enable or disable the shortcuts for:

  • Open live session — opens the live-session workspace; it does not start recording.
  • Voice typing — hold the shortcut and speak to type in another app. See Voice typing.
  • Translate selected text — translate text selected in another app. See Text translation.

The Settings window shows the keys for your operating system. Turn a shortcut off if another app uses the same keys.

Live session#

These settings control meetings and events while they are live:

  • Open live session opens the workspace without starting a recording.
  • Pin live window, Text size, and Background opacity control how the live window appears over other applications.
  • Your environment chooses online or in-person speaker labelling.
  • Microphone chooses which input identifies and transcribes your voice.
  • Translation quality, Automatic adjustment, and Show real-time memory control the speed, context, and accuracy of live translation.
  • Transcription quality controls how long JotMe waits for finalized speech before displaying transcript text.

For the behavior behind these controls, open:

Live translation

Environment, microphone, translation quality, automatic adjustment, and real-time memory.

Live transcription

Limit shared translation languages#

Choose the model you plan to share, then limit the spoken and target languages that participants can select. The limits are stored separately for Basic, Premium, and Fast (Audio).

See how language limits affect shared live translation

Account#

The desktop Account section includes profile and work-language information, subscription status, billing details, invoices, and account deletion. These are account-wide rather than desktop-only.

Account settings

Plans, usage, account preferences, sign-in, and deletion.

Billing and payments

Renewals, plan changes, invoices, cancellations, and refunds.

Custom vocabulary#

Add names, product terms, acronyms, and industry vocabulary by language; organize them by category and importance, and turn individual terms on or off. The same vocabulary is available in the web app.

See the account-wide custom vocabulary guide

Version and updates#

Latest beside the installed version means the desktop app is current. When an update is available, Settings shows the download or restart action.

See updating and uninstalling
